JRR & ROY was a happening structured around 3 vignettes created by 3 groups of artists matched together by the curator. Each group consisted of one artist as the writer, one artist as the performer, and one artist as the sculptor.

To start the process, the writers were given the names "JRR & ROY" as the prompt from which to write. Once their written piece was complete, the writers passed them on to the performers and sculptors who read their writer's story.

Each performer and sculptor were assigned either JRR or ROY by the curator. They had to create a performance and installation based on their assigned character, drawing inspiration from their writer's story.

On the night of the happening, each group of 3 presented their cohesion: the audience traveled through the gallery to each installation to hear the writer read their piece while the performer moved with / around the sculpture.

Create a solo performance to embody your character.

Make tangible the character you have been assigned.
